Manhattan Skyline

Back

Manhattan skyline in December sun. On my first visit to New York I was, for the first few days, totally overwhelmed by the sheer size and hustle of this city. One felt like one was risking ones life to try to cross the roads and to take a ride in the famous yellow cabs….eeekkk you definitely was risking life and limb. After the shock wore off I had time to appreciate this awesome city and its scope for some amazing photographic opportunities. Do not be fooled by the glorious blue December sky however, it rains too, a lot. Very heavy rain at that and on those days the camera stayed tucked away to keep dry, it was only me that got soaked.

20/04/2006LoopyIf its possible to photoshop this shot i think everything left of the smithsonian would look great as a shot on its own-as the 'old' financial district. Everything to the right of course is the new-but together you can see how the city progressed. Remember those new buildings are there as a result of the earth that came out of the land reclamation when they dug the footprints for the WTC towers. and they added the land on the end to create the Battery Park Area
