Dandelion

Back

The name dandelion is derived from the Old French, dent-de-lion, which is literally "lion's tooth", referring to the sharply lobed leaves of the plant. A dandelion flower head consists of many tiny flowers.
Does the dandelion however deserve to be simply considered a weed? I think not. In this photo the humble dandelion looks majestic with it’s lion’s head mane of yellow petals. Not a weed surely - just a beautiful wild flower. Dandelion

17/02/2010LeesaIve never understood---why are these majestically beautiful and brightly hued, dynamic and transformative, plants referred to as "weeds?" What technically classifies them as so? I've always, since a very small child, considered them "Flowers." Remind me of a sunflower or daffodil :)
