These are images of everyday things that show their beauty close up. Sometimes the simplest of things has a wonderful form, colour and texture that is all to easy to overlook.
Green Leaf...
A simple photo in itself but one in which I find the colour and texture simply breathtaking

Peace Lilly Seed Head...
This heavy duty armoured caterpillar is in fact a Peace Lilly's seed head. I like this photo for two reasons, the graceful artful structure of the leaf and the clarity of the shot.

Peace Lilly...
The Peace Lilly is also known as Spathiphyllum, which comes from the Greek for blade (spathe) and (phyllon) leaf. Therefore describing the sword like shape of both the leaves and flowers. Not only is the Peace Lilly a beautiful houseplant to look at it also has the ability of cleaning environmental contaminants, including the removal of alcohol, acetone, benzene, and formaldehyde. They also add oxygen and humidity to the indoor environment. So beauty and function all rolled into one!

Snow Flakes...
I like the way you can see how delicate the snow is in this photo. How each fragile flake is attached to the next. I also like the way the early morning sun shines through the snow at the bottom edge.

Fade To Brown...
I love the way this photo shows nature in action. The autumn colours of yellow and brown taking over the rich green of summer.

New From Old...
This picture shows part of the old wall belonging to the 13th Century Tintagel Castle. Situated on Cornwall's rugged coastline it is a place full of mystery and legends, including that of it being the birth place of King Arthur. I find this photo magical because it depicts the very old supporting the very young. The ancient walls give home to the fragile, fresh green, tiny fern. When you study the wall you see that the old crumbling castle is not empty and desolate but that it still supports life in abundance. Ferns, mosses, lichens, spiders and numerous others insects all find a home within it's protective walls.

Seaweed on the rocks...
I love pebbles, their different textures and colours fascinate me. This picture was taken on the beach at Worthing. The seaweed wasn’t placed by me but by the tide. I don’t like to artificially create photographs, I like to capture nature as it is.

Ice on glass...
I took this photo on a frosty morning. The car windscreen was frosted over and before I reached for my di-icer I grabbed my camera instead. I am glad I did, this is one of my favourites. The ice has taken on a delicate feather effect. Nature can indeed astound us, if we only give ourselves time to look. I have had my car windscreen frost over many times before and after this photo but this so far is the only time I saw such a wonderful effect. Truly a magical moment.
